Spark by Rachael Craw is the story of Evangeline Everton, her best friend Kitty and boyfriend(ish) Jamie Gallagher.
Jamie and Evie, as she likes to be called, have a relationship before the story starts when they are young teenagers and Evie touches on the memories at the start of the book. In the beginning, she tries to avoid Jamie but terrifically fails, falling right into his arms, literally.
It all revolves around a willow tree which is the final place at the end of the book. Read more

Shield, by Rachael Craw, is a 21st-century-based book that concludes the Spark trilogy. The young adult trilogy is told from Evie’s – a teenage girl’s – perspective and explains the many trials and challenges she faces as a government experiment, as well as with her love-life and complicated family.
As Stray left off with a traumatic event, Shield starts off with an insight into how Evie is coping with having lost loved ones, which includes therapy and avoiding certain people while in school. The story carries on in the Affinity headquarters, where training and orientation for Shields – one of the kinds of people affected by the experimentations – takes place. Read more
Spark by Rachael Craw is the first book in a young adult science fiction series set in our world. It explores the idea of genetically engineered humans. Decades ago, the organisation called Affinity decided to create the “perfect soldier” for hire: humans with enhanced capabilities, such as “a soldier stronger than ten men”. Unfortunately, something went wrong, as it always does, and there emerged three types of mutants. The Spark, described as “walking lighterfluid”, are those who “activate” the other two.
