The Spaghetti Giraffe and the Egg of Courage is the second book in The Spaghetti Giraffe trilogy and it tells the story of Gorgon trying to work up the courage to ask Mina Cucina to marry him, and the animals that try to help him.
The animals are created by Mina from all the food mess that gathers under the cooker in her kitchen. They include a marshmallow pig, a macaroni snail, prune hedgehogs and a fluffy monkey.
Ok, ok that might not seem like a lot of characters, but that’s all they needed in this story and it just the right amount from start to finish.
The animals and Gorgon go on an adventure to try to help his courage grow and in the end, it does and he asks Mina to marry him. Gorgon ends up facing his own fears and asks and I bet you can guess what Mina says… “yes!”
The black and white illustrations are so adorable and cute but since this is a book for young readers, I would suggest adding a few more pictures because most young readers get a little bored trying to read something without pictures. But they were pretty detailed and entertaining and overall they were well drawn too.
This book was a great joyride for me and was a 9/10 out of the books I have read lately.
In conclusion, I would like to read more from this author. I really enjoyed The Spaghetti Giraffe and the Egg of Courage – it had a good use of vocabulary and I suggest readers that are into magic, fantasy or anything like that should read this book.
